Industrialist Suresh Kediya was abducted by an armed gang from Bariyarpur of Bara district on Thursday evening. after shooting and injuring his chauffer. Kedia is a member of the renowned Kedia Group of Birgunj. Police officials said the incident took place at around 6:30 p.m. near Pasaha River west of Bariyarpur. The assailants first opened fire at driver Shyam Umesh Prasad Sah, who is from Bindawabasini, Birgunj Sub-metropolis-22. He has sustained serious bullet injuries. Locals in Birgunj have again become terrified following this latest incident. The kidnappers, who used a Scorpio jeep with an Indian registration number, attacked the driver all of a sudden and kidnapped Kedia. "My brother Suresh has been kidnapped this evening," said industrialist Pradeep Kedia, president of Birgunj Chamber of Commerce. "He was kidnapped after opening fire at the driver first."
