A fire at a massive military ammunition depot in central India on Tuesday has killed at least 17 people and left many more injured, according to media reports.The Press Trust of India news agency said two officers were among the 17 soldiers to have died in the blaze at the depot in Pulgaon, near the city of Nagpur in the state of Maharashtra.The NDTV network also reported that 17 people had been killed in the huge blaze which it said had broken out after an explosion at the depot in the early hours of the morning.Thousands of families living in the area had been evacuated from nearby towns and villages.

Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Poudel has allocated Rs 10 billion budget for the much-talked Kathmandu Tarai Madesh Fast Track. According to the budget speech, the work of Budhigandaki Hydropower Project will start within six months through establishing an entity. The entity will complete all resettlement of the project-displaced families within six months and begin works thereafter. An amount of Rs 5.33 billion has been earmarked for paying compensation of the lands and houses. The amount would be very little as the project’s total cost for compensation of the land and resettlement is estimated to be about Rs 60 billion.Likewise, works in Fast Track will be started this year and also a specialized project office with needful technical manpower will be set up to execute the project, according to the budget. President Bidhya Devi Bhandari on Saturday announced to confer medals, awards, decoration and honours on 81,790 personalities, living or dead, from different walks of life in recognition of their contributions to the country. The announcement was made to mark the ninth Republic Day. According to a press release issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Nepal Ratna Man Padavi, the highest civilian award, will be presented to Madan Kumar Bhandari posthumously. Similarly, Gauravshali Man Padavi will go to Sushil Koirala (posthumously) and Subas Chandra Nembang. Mahaujjwal Kirtimaya Rastradeep Man Padavi will be conferred on Surya Bahadur Thapa, Nara Bahadur Karmacharya, Posta Bahadur Bogati and Nirmal Lama (posthumously), and Ramhari Joshi. Yuba Raj Khatiwada, Barsha Man Pun, Janardan Sharma, Baidyanath Upadhyay, Bhanu Prasad Acharya will receive Prasidhha Prabal Janasewashree award. UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Prachanda will chair the new party. Prachanda, known for his anti-India stance, said the days of Maoists' defeat have come to an end. "This is not only the unity among the Maoists but also a new kind of national unity," the 61-year-old former prime minister said. "This marks the unity among the oppressed and exploited classes," he said.

The government, in its annual budget estimates for the Fiscal Year 2016/2017, has allocated Rs 140.66 billion for the post-earthquake reconstruction efforts and rehabilitation operation. Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Poudel announced so while reading out the budget statement for the upcoming fiscal at the meeting of the Legislature-Parliament today. Minister Poudel said that the government, underscoring the reconstruction operation, has allocated the amount after estimation on annual revenue and expenditure. Stating that the need of the hour was to fight against poverty and backwardness which were against the social justice, Poudel asserted that the budget was aimed at attaining economic growth and prosperity. The budget, first since the promulgation of new constitution on September 20, 2015, has been prepared after soliciting suggestions from the parliamentarians, according to Minister Poudel, who assured that that adequate budget has been allocated for implementation of federal structure as stipulated in the new constitution

Finance Minister Bishnu Poudel is presenting the budget for fiscal year 2016/17 at the Parliament.Minister Poudel said budget prepared after consultation with former finance ministers and various stakeholders. Minister Poudel said government had prioritized implementation of the constitution, acceleration of development works and reduce poverty through this budget.

The government will also provide martyrs status to those who lost their lives during the Madhes movement and also provide compensation to their families. Government has allocated Rs 140 billion for post-quake reconstruction and rehabilitation works.

Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel will table a budget of Rs 1,048 billion for the next fiscal year, in Parliament on Saturday. Sources involved in preparing the budget confirmed that the size of the budget for fiscal year 2016/17 will be 27 percent bigger than for the current fiscal year. The budget for the current fiscal year is Rs 819 billion.The reasons behind breaking the general trend of 15 percent average increment in the budget size every year are the greater budget allocations for education, health and drinking water as well as for infrastructure projects, investment in reconstruction, and election programs. Sources informed that Finance Minister Paudel was bent on increasing the budget to this extent although technocrats at the Ministry of Finance were of the view that he should not do so.

"The new constitution has not only granted equal rights to all Nepalis, but also guarantees socio-economic, cultural as well as political rights".Prime Minister Oli said, "This progress can be advanced at speed, we can strengthen the political achievements including democratic republic set up and make it prosperous." He also renewed his appeal to all to continue engagement in the effort to resolve the problems through dialogue and underscored the fact that differences in political views including other disagreements could be resolved through dialogue and negotiations. The Prime Minister referenced the act of beating of the mattress to clear the dust, liking it to the government's overcoming the mega crisis emanating from the earthquake-triggered massive destruction, agitation, strikes and supply management crisis, and added it was now working to reconstruct and rebuild. "The present government is committed to protecting and consolidating peace, democracy, social justice and equality, sovereignty, independence, territorial integrity and country's interest and self-dignity," PM asserted. He stressed on the need for national unity, resoluteness and extensive effort to use Nepal's natural resources and heritages correctly, so as to usher in prosperity. He wished that all would be motivated to that end on the occasion of the Republic Day. Post-mortem examination of Manisha Gharti Magar, the high school sister of Nepal football group striker Bimal Gharti Magar, has been done at the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital in Kathmandu on Friday.
The 17-year-old young lady was discovered de@d in a suspicious condition in her home in Bardaghat of Nawalparasi yesterday. Police suspected that she was k!lled.
Her body was conveyed to Kathmandu from Nawalparasi for post-mortem examination.
A group from the National Human Rights Commission went by TUTH this evening to ask about the demise.

Nepal national football team striker Bimal Gharti Magar’s 17-year-old sister has been found dead at Bhanunagar in Bardaghat Municipality-8 of Nawalparasi district on Wednesday night.

Acting President of the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) Narendra Shrestha confirmed the death of Manisha Gharti Magar.

According to DSP Arjun Ranabhat at the Nawalparasi District Police Office, Manisha was found dead at her room this morning.

It has been learned that she was alone in the house when the incident took place.

Manisha and her mother were living in the house. However, her mother had gone to Butwal for some tasks. The mother had returned home this morning to find the dead body of her only daughter on the bed.
She had instantly called police after noticing some bloodstains on the bed sheet.
Police said bruises were seen on her throat.

Meanwhile, Bimal is currently in Belgium for treatment of his leg. After being informed of the incident, he is scheduled to reach Kathmandu on Friday.

The body has been sent to the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital in Kathmandu for autopsy.
‘Boyfriend’ arrested

Meanwhile, police arrested a youth on suspicion of his involvement in the alleged murder of Manisha Gharti. He is Rudra Narayan Chaudhary aka Aashish (22), whom Manisha was in relationship with for last four years, according to police.

Police claimed Chaudhary had visited Manisha on Wednesday evening. They had some disputes yesterday after which Chaudhary had beaten up Manisha, Nepal Police posted on its official Facebook page this evening.

Chaudhary then came out of the house and stayed on the verandah. Meanwhile, Manisha tried to hang herself with a stole and Chaudhary knew it. He instantly entered into the house and lifted the girl from the noose of the stole. But, the girl died and Chaudhary returned to his home with the stole, preliminary police investigations revealed

Industrialist Suresh Kediya was abducted by an armed gang from Bariyarpur of Bara district on Thursday evening. after shooting and injuring his chauffer. Kedia is a member of the renowned Kedia Group of Birgunj. Police officials said the incident took place at around 6:30 p.m. near Pasaha River west of Bariyarpur. The assailants first opened fire at driver Shyam Umesh Prasad Sah, who is from Bindawabasini, Birgunj Sub-metropolis-22. He has sustained serious bullet injuries. The kidnappers, who used a Scorpio jeep with an Indian registration number, attacked the driver all of a sudden and kidnapped Kedia. "My brother Suresh has been kidnapped this evening," said industrialist Pradeep Kedia, president of Birgunj Chamber of Commerce. "He was kidnapped after opening fire at the driver first."

Kawasoti, May 26: Police here have arrested two youths on the suspicion of their involvement in the killing of Manisha Gharti. She is the sister of famous football player Bimal Gharti Magar. Gharti was found murdered last night.Police have withheld detailed information so that it will not affect further investigation into the case.She was found murdered at her own home at Bardaghat-8, Panchanagar in Nawalparasi district this morning. Manisha’s mother had informed the police when she saw her daughter killed in her bedroom.It is said Manisha’s mother had gone to Butwal the same night the incident took place and daughter Manisha was alone at the home.After inspecting the crime scene, Superintendant of Police (SP) Rajendra Chaudhary said there were blood stains in the divan where she was left behind after murder.Chaudhary added that the dead body has been kept in the district hospital for postmortem.Gharti, a 17-year old, had recently appeared in the grade 11 board exams from New Life Higher Secondary School, Bardaghat. -
